The Nordic Approach to Peaceful Co-existence

Long Term Peace
In the Nordic, we have maintained peaceful coexistence for over a century without engaging in war with each other. The fact that the Norwegian Government awards the Nobel Peace Prize, despite the Swedish origins of its benefactor, Alfred Nobel, may signify acknowledgment of the peaceful dissolution of the union between Norway and Sweden, averting imminent armed conflict.
Supranational Bodies
Several supranational bodies facilitate cooperation and coordination among the Nordic countries, all of which are renowned for their commitment to peace and diplomacy.
Defensive not Punitive Measures
In our countries, we prioritize defensive measures over punitive violence. Our approach aims to contain aggressors, facilitating de-escalation and creating conditions for dialogue. Sustainable peace is always achieved through negotiation and mutual understanding.
